Saturday 25th September

Back to league action this weekend with Barking the big winners on the day beating Southend Manor 7-1 at Mayersbrooke park Barkings Chaz Liddard netting no less than 6 times for the blues. Basildon and Witham town both recorded 4-0 wins against strugglers Clapton and Sawbridgeworth respectively. The other winners on the day were Mauritius Sports and London Apsa who both are much improved this season. The final two games both produced 1-1 draws for Enfield against Burnham and Bethnal Green and champions Stansted.

Saturday 11th September
The FACup was the focus of the day for Bethnal Green and Burnham with mixed fourtunes for both of our sides. Bethnal Green managed a good 1-1 draw away at Harlow and will replay at Mile End Monday night.
Burnham didnt fair as well going down 3-0 at home to Chesham United.
In the league it was a superb day for Mauritius Sports recording their biggest ever senior result winning 6-0 on their long awaited return to Home at Wadham Lodge. Debut boy Hause scoring no less than 5 of the goals.
Eton Manor kept up their early season form beating Sawbridgeworth 4-0. Champions Stansted completed a good week coming away from Southend Manor victors by 3 goals to nil. London Apsa another team who have started the season well eased past Clapton in the east end derby winning 2-0. The games at Barking, Witham and Hullbridge all produced draws.

Saturday 28th August
FA Cup weekend produced a mixed bag of results for our clubs. Big winners were Burnham Ramblers who were 5-0 up at half time against Haringey to eventually win out 5-1.
On sunday Bethnal Green booked a place in the next round with a 3-1 away win at Kentish Town. Witham have earnt a Wednesday replay at Ilford in a game the Town lads should have won at the 1st attempt.
Biggest crowd of the day was at Barking for the derby vs Redbridge but the 106 attendance were left mainly disapointed as the hosts lost by the odd goal losing 1-0.
The same margin of defeat fell to Bowers and also Eton Manor. The days biggest losers were Southend Manor against many peoples tip for the Ryman north as Brentwood cruised to a 4-0 victory.
In the league champions Stansted went to the top of the league with a 8-1 thrashing of Clapton at The Spotted Dog.
While at Lower road Mauritius took and early lead but eventually had to come back to share a point with Hullbridge.

Saturday 21 August
No less than 29 goals from eight games on Saturday with Witham showing the way beating Clapton 5-0 in front of the biggest crowd of the day 76. Enfield were also big winners on the road beating Hullbridge 4-1 at Lower Road. Bethnal Green many peoples tip for the title had a good away win at Takeley scoring 3 without reply.
It was a day for the away sides as Mauritius won 2-1 at Sawbridgeworth and Barking came away victors against Burnham at Leslie Field also by the same score. Three games ended all square at Basildon,Bowers and Eton Manor respectfully.

Saturday 7th August
So the season is underway and the opening day games didnt disappoint. Champions Stansted started off the defence of their title with a good 2-0 away win at Basildon on a superb surface at Gardeners Lane.
Witham last seasons runners up came out on top 2-1 against Barkingside in front of the days biggest crowd of 90. There were also opening day wins for Enfield,Burnham and Eton Manor. The other game ended up in a draw between Bowers and Bethnal Green 1-1.
Midweek will see the start of the League cup group games before all the teams start life on the road to Wembley in the FA Cup next Saturday.

Tuesday 4th May
With the extra preliminary round of next season’s FA Cup scheduled for Saturday August 14th. Clubs can expect that the Essex Senior League season will commence seven days earlier on Saturday 7th. This date is subject to confirmation at the Annual General Meeting, but would clubs who have difficulty starting their home season on that date please let the Hon. Fixture Secretary know by the Annual General Meeting. Clubs who share with Cricket or Athletic clubs are all subject to this problem and some council owned grounds are not available also.

Monday 3rd May League Cup Final
Burnham Ramblers 1 Bethnal Green United 4
Even the last game of the season was affected by the weather which played a part in most of this seasons senior league programe. Strong crosswinds and heavey showers were the order of the day at Bowers & Pitsea but the football on show would always keep the crowd of 307 entertained with both sides creating many chances during the 90 mins.
Bethnal Green however always held the upper hand with two early goals inside the first twenty mins from Shane Drew and Steve Willis.
Burnham were unlucky on a few occasions as they came out fired up but the next goal was always crucial. Bethnal Green got the all important strike on 77mins through Richard Johnson. Remi Nelson who looked comfortable all afternoon made the scoreline slightly onesided on 81 mins before Burnham deservedly got a consolation in injury time through Marc Gorbell.
A big well done to Bethnal Green who made it a cup double in their 1st season at this level..quite an achievement.

Thursday 26th April
A great turnout of 192 supporters witnessed Witham gain a 2-2 draw and the vital point needed at Barkingside to grab Runners up spot in the Essex Senior League. A superb run of results saw Town move up from midtable to just miss out on the title.
Burnham will have to finish the season in 3rd spot despite overcoming Mauritius 5-1 on Tuesday night to put the pressure on Witham. The game was a good advert in which both teams played some good football and what could have seen this seasons 'unofficial goal of the season' a superb Maradonna like run and finish from Pethers.
So two games remaining tonights last league game of the season at The Spotted Dog and then the Big One the League Cup final on Bank holiday Monday Burnham v Bethnal Green at Bowers and Pisea FC 3pm ko.
If you cant make it to the ground for the final enjoy the summer from all at ESL.

Saturday 24th April
Its a day to celebrate for Champions Stansted who have won the league with a 4-0 victory over Bowers and Pitsea saving any doubt which may have lurked if the rearranged game vs Basildon planned for Tuesday had been the decider. Congratulations to Terry and his men who have brought home the title to Hargrave Park. Well done to everyone involved at Stansted.
Witham Town cemented 2nd spot with a total demolition of Basildon United by double figures 10-0. Burnham can also take 2nd spot but remain 3rd after dropping 2 points in a 2-2 draw at home to Southend Manor. The final positions of 2nd and 3rd will be setled in midweek Witham are favourites with a 3 point advantage but Ramblers have a better goal difference.
Fourth spot will go to Enfield who completed their programme of games with a fine 3-1 away win at Tiptree.
5th position goes to Bethnal Green who cant be caught by teams below and it is a superb 1st season at this level for the East london side.
Barking beat bottom team Mauritius 3-0, Barkingside eased past Hullbridge 5-2. Takeley came away from second bottom Clapton victors 3-0, while London Apsa also had a good away win 2-1 at Sawbridgeworth.

Saturday 17th April
Stansted were without a game as Basildon could not raise a team against the league leaders which could have a big bearing on the title. It now remains a league comittiee decision on the award of points but not an ideal way of gaining 3 points (if awarded) which could prove to be so crucial in terms of the final standings.
Witham were without a game in second spot so it was Bethnal Green who could have closed the gap at the top, a 3-3 draw at Eton Manor would not have been the result they would have looked for. Burnham who still have slim title hopes were big winners away at Sawbridgeworth winning at a canter 4-0. Southend Manor and Barking both had good away wins 0-3 and 0-2 respectfully.
